Oh!……Canada!

Hop aboard the Canadian Pacific Artsway as we take an imaginative and creative journey through this great country of Canada. From Bonavista, to Vancouver Island, from the Arctic Circle to the Great Lake Waters, this CAMP was made for you and me!

Our expedition will have us creating art, jamming in music class, stretching in yoga, dancing in dance class, strumming on the ukuleles, drumming in a DRUMfit class and celebrating all things that we love about Canada. All Aboard our Trans-Canadian Art Camp adventure!

Summer Camps in Grand Bend and Stratford hosted by A Brand New Beat

Back by popular demand is our week-long summer day camp! Join us as we lead children on a musical and creative journey combining storytelling, percussion, music and art in careful collaboration. We are happy to announce that we will again be incorporating drumFIT classes into our camp this summer.

In Stratford, joining us again this summer will be Miss Jeanine from Infinity Dance who will be offering some awesome dance classes. We are also excited to announce that Silvana Bruni will be joining us from the Yoga Collective with some playful yoga classes.

We are happy to offer two camps this summer. We will offer a 1/2 day camp in Grand Bend for ages 4-10, August 14-18.

Daily Program Information

Day 1 - All Aboard!

There is no better way to experience Canada than by riding the rails! Get your creative juices chugging as we begin our journey on the West Coast of Canada. Inspired by the storybook “Freight Train” by Donald Crews children will enjoy working on print making focusing on geometric shape, line and colour. Summer Camps in Grand Bend and Stratford hosted by A Brand New Beat

Our train ride will lead us to the interior of B.C where we will explore the famous Boreal Forest through the creation of mixed media trees. In music class, children will “Choo Choo Cha Boogie” through rhythm and beat soundscape explorations.

Day 2 - Land of the Midnight Sun

There are strange things done in the midnight sun. Join us as we travel to the arctic to explore art inspired by Ted Harrison’s picture book, “O Canada”. Art class will focus on the use of colour - pink lakes, purple mountains, rolling hills as orange as the sun.

Children will also enjoy creating an inuksuk - a sculpture meaning: someone has been here. We will gather around the gathering drum for music inspired by the north.

Day 3 - A Bunch of Munsch!

We can’t decide which Robert Munsch story is our favourite so we’ve decided to bring you a Bunch of Munsch! Art and music classes will be inspired by the northern lights in “A Promise Is A Promise”, using chalk pastels. In the story “Purple, Green and Yellow” we will meet Bridget and her love for markers.

We promise that we won’t use the super indelible never come out markers in our masterpieces…..but we promise our creations will be colourful! Finally, we will wrap things up with a bang, bang, rattle bing bang with a music class inspired by “Mortimer”. Music class will feature a medley of mayhem including a junk band!

Day 4 - He Shoots……She Scores!

Summer Camps in Grand Bend and Stratford hosted by A Brand New BeatWe know it’s summer but how could we not fit in hockey at this year’s camp! Roch Carrier's story, “The Hockey Sweater,” is a tale of childhood, hockey, and a very disappointing mail-order mix-up. This classic Canadian tale takes center ice for the day’s activities.

We will be designing our own hockey jerseys using raised salt painting using watercolours, and creating awesome creations by painting with ice cubes. Children will delight in creating oil pastel resist toques using the element of line. Our music class will features les chansons du Quebec en francais! J’aime l’hockey!

Day 5 - Great Big Sea

Join us as we head to the sea to celebrate all the wonders our coastlines and waterways have to offer. Our day at the beach is inspired by the Canadian picture Summer Camps in Grand Bend and Stratford hosted by A Brand New Beatbook“Stella, Star of the Sea”. Exquisite watercolours enliven this perfect summer story of adventure. Children will enjoy creating their own Canadian lighthouses using washi tape and tempura paint.

Children will Rig a Jig Jig with a music class brimming with toe tapping sea chanties and nautical numbers. An assortment of percussion instruments and playful props will be used in our sea-side adventure!

Studio Policies

The following studio guidelines are designed to ensure that each student, together with his/her parent/guardian, will benefit from weekly classes.

  1. Classes will start at the scheduled time.  Arriving five minutes early helps create a more relaxed atmosphere.  Arriving late is a distraction – particularly to young children.
  2. Due to insurance reasons, only the registered student and his/her parent/ guardian may attend the class – not siblings (unless registered for the class).
  3. Class attendance:
    • Upon registration a place has been reserved for your child for the session. Full refunds are available with no questions asked as long as we receive your request before the first scheduled class.
    • Please advise us in advance if you and your child are unable to attend a class.  There will be no refunds for missed classes.
    • Refund requests after the first class will be charged a $25 administration fee, a $35 materials fee, and $12 for each class that has occurred.
    • No refund requests will be honored after the fourth week of the session.
  4. If a class is cancelled due to inclement weather or a teacher cancellation, a make-up class will be held at a time convenient for most of the class.
  5. Classes with insufficient registration numbers will be cancelled and full refunds given to registrants if there is no suitable alternate class.

We are looking forward to making music with you and your child.  Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at:
